HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1975-085-O-75a 0 • =nLaall I J > I 85-0-75 AN ORDINANCE Amending Certain Sections of the Zoning Ordinance as they Pertain to Parking Lots WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee has, on July 11, 1974 and f subsequent dates, conducted a public hearing into the question of special use status for parking lots pursuant to notice published in the manner prescribed by law; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee has reported its findings and recommendations to the City Council of the City of Evanston: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section III of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of i Evanston, 1960, as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows: "STRUCTURE. Anything erected, the use of which requires more or less permanent location on the ground or attachement to something having a permanent location on the ground. An advertising or business sign, if detached or projecting from a building, shall be construed to be a separate structure. A parking lot is not a structure." SECTION 2: That Section VI.B.2 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Evanston, 1960, as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows: "2. Special Uses a. Art galleries, libraries, and museums not operated for profit. b. Automobile parking lots accessory to a permitted use or a { special use allowed in the district. c. Automobile parking lots which are not included in b. above, which legally existed as of February 20, 1967, and which are subject to elimination under the provisions of Section XI. may be retained if they are granted a special use permit following a public hearing pursuant to the procedures in Section XII. d. Cemeteries i e. Child day care homes and night time homes as defined herein. f. Christmas tree sales lot. E g. Churches h. Golf course-:- but not including commercially operated driving ranges or miniature golf courses. is Identification signs for lawfully established non-residentiall!! uses. i j. Parks and playgrounds. k. Schools - nursery, elementary, and high - including playgrounds and fields incidental thereto. 1. Public utility uses, including outside telephone pay booths • 0 85-0-75 &Z 11 H and public transportation facilities, such as shelters, terminals, parking area, service buildings and turn-arounds. ;i m. Truck Gardening, Nurseries and Greenhouses. !! n. Where a single-family detached dwelling with not less than 4,000 square feet of floor area is located on a lot not less than 15,000 square feet in area, a second dwelling unit located in an existing building accessory to the principal dwelling may be allowed; provided that such second dwelling unit shall not contain living' f quarters for roomers, lodgers or permanent guests."
