HomeMy WebLinkAbout069-R-22 Authorizing the City Manager to Submit an Application for Safe Streets and Roads for ALL (SS4 A) Grant Funds for the Chicago Avenue Corridor Improvement Project9/12/2022 69-R-22 A RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Submit an Application for Safe Streets and Roads for ALL (SS4 A) Grant Funds for the Chicago Avenue Corridor Improvement Project WHEREAS, the Safe Streets and Roads for ALL (SS4 A) program is a federal program to be awarded on a competitive basis by the Department of Transportation allowing for local governments to fix and modernize their infrastructure; and WHEREAS, Safe Streets & Roads funding can be requested to support projects that will improve transportation connectivity for complete streets and multi modal users such as cars, bike, buses, and pedestrians; and WHEREAS, the Safe Streets & Roads grants fund eighty percent (80%) of the subject project cost and the remaining twenty percent (20%) must be matched by the respective program participant for the payment of engineering and construction costs; and WHEREAS, the City is preparing a Safe Streets & Roads grant application for the Chicago Avenue Corridor Improvement Project from Howard Street to Davis Street (hereinafter referred to as the "Project'), and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: Page1 of34 Doc ID:a505e74bab484be8bdled7340466967d58495938 69-R-22 SECTION 1: The foregoing recitals are found as fact and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized to submit the Safe Streets & Roads Grant Application for federal funds to the Illinois Department of Transportation and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to attest, on behalf of the City of Evanston. SECTION 3: The City Manager is also authorized and directed to negotiate any additional conditions of the application as may be determined to be in the best interests of the City. SECTION 4: That this Resolution 69-R-22 shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
