HomeMy WebLinkAbout110-R-21 Approving Extended Hours of Alcohol Service on October 30, 2021 and November 6, 2021 for Levy Premium Food Services' One-Day Class Z-2 Liquor Licenses10/4/2021 110-R-21 A RESOLUTION APPROVING EXTENDED HOURS OF LIQUOR SERVICE ON OCTOBER 30, 2021 AND NOVEMBER 6, 2021 FOR LEVY PREMIUM FOOD SERVICE'S ONE DAY CLASS Z-2 LIQUOR LICENSE WHEREAS, City Code Section 3-4-6(Z-2) provides for special one -day licenses authorizing the sale of alcoholic liquor for certain events in the City; and WHEREAS, City Code Section 3-4-6(Z-2) provides that the sale of alcoholic liquor shall only take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Saturdays; and WHEREAS, Levy Premium Food Service ("Levy") is a City of Evanston liquor license holder and has been contracted to provide beer, wine, and canned cocktails at six (6) Northwestern University home football games in the City in 2021; and WHEREAS, has submitted complete applications and supporting documents for the issuance of Class Z-2 one -day liquor licenses in order to provide beer, wine, and canned cocktails at these Northwestern football home games in the City; and WHEREAS, Levy shall be providing alcoholic liquor for the October 30, 2021 and November 6, 2021 Northwestern University football games, which do not have an announced start time yet.; and WHEREAS, City Code Section 3-4-6(Z-2) provides that the hours during which sale of alcoholic liquor is lawful may be extended by written order of City Council for periods not to exceed four (4) hours prior to opening upon written application by the 110-R-21 licensee stating the reasons for the requested extension and the date for which the extension is sought; and WHEREAS, in case these games are scheduled to start at 11 a.m., Levy seeks to provide alcoholic liquor prior to the potential 11 a.m. start of the October 30, 2021 and November 6, 2021 football games, and have submitted written requests for City Council permission for extended hours of service beginning at 8 a.m. on October 30 and November 6 (a copy of Levy's written requests is attached herein as Exhibit A); 506I WHEREAS, the City Council believes that it is appropriate to grant Levy's request for permission for extended hours of service beginning at 8 a.m. on October 30 and November 6, 2021. NOW BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, THAT: SECTION 1: The foregoing recitals are hereby found as fact and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2: City Council hereby grants Levy's request for permission for extended hours of service beginning at 8 a.m. on October 30 and November 6, 2021.
