HomeMy WebLinkAbout075-R-21 Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Amendment to the Lease Agreement Dated October 14, 1966, as Amended, Between the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and the City of Evanston7/ 19/21 75-R-21 A RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Amendment to the Lease Agreement Dated October 14, 1966, as Amended, Between the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and the City of Evanston WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago ("MWRD") owns a certain premises along the North Shore Channel in Evanston, Illinois (the "Demised Premises"); and WHEREAS, MWRD and the City of Evanston ("City") entered into a lease agreement dated October 14, 1966, to use the Demised Premises for the operation and maintenance of a public fee golf course and for use as a public park and playground, commencing December 1, 1966 through May 31, 2032 (the "Lease Agreement"); and WHEREAS, said Lease Agreement has been amended from time to time pursuant to agreements dated June 24, 1969, September 21, 1978, April 21, 1994, September 9, 2004 and July 11, 2019, all of which are incorporated by reference herein; and WHEREAS, MWRD has requested that the City enter into a lease amendment to allow for public parking and tailgating during Northwestern home football games, where approved; and WHEREAS, the Parties agree to amend the Lease Agreement subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the Lease Amendment, attached hereto and incorporated herewith as Exhibit A; Page 3 of 78 75-R-21 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: The recitals are hereby incorporated and adopted by reference herein. SECTION 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute the Lease Amendment with MWRD as outlined in Exhibit A. SECTION 3: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate any additional conditions of the Amendment that may determined to be in the best interests of the City. SECTION 4: This Resolution 75-R-21 shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
