A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
MEMORANDOM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE
LEVY SENIOR CENTER FOUNDATION TO RENOVATE THE LEVY
SENIOR CENTER'S LINDEN ROOM
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston's Parks and Recreation Department is
committed to enhancing the quality of life of all residents by providing collaborative
opportunities for its community to grow, learn, create and play; and
WHEREAS, to fulfill its mission, the City collaborates with not -for -profit
organizations in order to procure necessary resources for programming and projects
beneficial to the community; and
WHEREAS, the City owns the Levy Senior Center located at 300 Dodge
Avenue, Evanston, Illinois 60202, which includes the Linden Room on the Property; and
WHEREAS, the Levy Senior Center Foundation ("the Foundation") is a
not -for -profit organization created to provide funds to the Levy Senior Center to
enhance its programming, offset expenses, and improve the facility; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation has approached the City to request that it
renovate the Levy Senior Center's Linden Room, which will modernize the equipment in
the Linden Room, expand the possible uses of the Linden Room, and allow the
Foundation to have a tool by which to attract future donors and resident participants to
the Levy Senior Center; and

WHEREAS, currently, the City does not have independent resources
dedicated to renovations of the Linden Room and the Foundation is prepared to assist
the City with said renovations; and
WHEREAS, the City and the Foundation have agreed to share fees and
costs for the renovation to the Linden Room; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 1-17-1(a) of the Evanston Municipal
Code, the City, through its City Manager, is authorized to enter into agreements for the
conduct of such affairs of the City.
NOW BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, THAT:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing recitals are hereby found as fact and
incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sign
the Memorandum of Understanding.
SECTION 3: If any provision, clause, sentence, paragraph, section or part
of this Resolution, shall, for any reason, be adjudged by a court of competent
jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, said judgment shall not affect, impair or
invalidate the remainder of the Resolution.
SECTION 4: This Resolution 4-R-21 will be in full force and effect from
and after the date of its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
