HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-2013-050-R-138/12/2013 • 8/8/2013 50-R-13 • A RESOLUT[ON Authorizing the City Manager to Submit a Grant Application to the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning for Transportation Alternatives Program Funds for a Bike Sharing Pilot Program WHEREAS, the Transportation Alternatives Program ("TAP") is a federal program, codified in U.S.C. §§ 213(b) and 101(a)(29), that funds transportation alternatives, including bicycle facilities; and WHEREAS, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning ("CMAP") employs a competitive process to select projects to sponsor with TAP funds; and WHEREAS, the City seeks to file a joint application with the City of • Chicago and Village of Oak Park for a TAP grant from CMAP to expand a regional bike • sharing program; and WHEREAS, receipt of the grant would bring an estimated eighty (80) bicycles to the City at eight (8) separate stations; WHEREAS, TAP regulations require that participants match twenty percent (20%) of their respective project costs; and WHEREAS, the City's estimated share would be one hundred eight thousand dollars ($108,000); and WHEREAS, CMAP must receive all applications no later than August 20, 2013, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF • THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, THAT: • 50-R-13 SECTION 1: The City Manager is hereby authorized to sign a joint grant application with the City of Chicago and Village of Oak Park, for TAP funds from CMAP to extend a regional bike sharing program to the City of Evanston. SECTION 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate any additional conditions of the grant application as he may determine to be in the best interest of the City.
