HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-2009-063-R-0911 /23/2009 10/13/2009 7/24/2009 63-R-09 A RESOLUTION Amending the Title and Scope of the Parking Committee to be the Transportation/Parking Committee WHEREAS, on January 12, 1987, Mayor Joan W. Barr created the Mayor's Special Committee on Parking, and appointed ten (10) members to the ad hoc Committee; and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1993, Resolution 35-R-93 was adopted forming a Parking Committee consisting of six (6) members; and WHEREAS, in December 2009, Mayor Elizabeth B. Tisdahl changed • the title of the Parking Committee to be the Transportation/Parking Committee, and appointed (8) members to the Committee; and WHEREAS, the Transportation/Parking Committee will provide a forum for the analysis of the traffic safety, pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and parking needs of the City; and WHEREAS, the Transportation/Parking Committee will make recommendations to the Administration & Public Works Committee of the City Council with respect to solving transportation and parking problems within the City; and WHEREAS, the Transportation/Parking Committee will serie the needs of citizens of the City of Evanston and the community at large. 0 • 1• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF i THE CITY OF EVANSTON, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: The Transportation/Parking Committee is hereby created. The Committee shall consist of eight (8) members appointed by the Mayor: three (3) Committee members shall be members of the City Council; one (1) Committee member shall be the Executive Director of the Evanston Chamber of Commerce; one (1) Committee member shall be from the City Plan Commission; and three (3) Committee members shall be Evanston residents, two (2) of whom shall be Evanston business owners. SECTION 2: The Transportation/Parking Committee shall study the traffic safety, pedestrian, .bicycle, transit, and parking needs of the City, and shall provide the Administration & Public Works Committee of the City Council with • recommendations to solve transportation and parking problems. SECTION 3: That this Resolution 63-R-09 shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law. Elizadeth. B.
