A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the Interim City Manager to Establish
a 2010 Census Complete Count Committee
WHEREAS, information from the decennial U.S. Census is used to
determine levels of funding for public projects by federal and state agencies, re-
districting, and planning for community development, all of which affect the public
health, safety and welfare; and; and
WHEREAS, under -counts occur frequently, and several population
groups have been undercounted in the past, including immigrants, low-income
households, renters and a group called "high-tech singles"; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Census Bureau works with local Complete
Count Committees to inform the public of the importance of being counted in the
decennial census and the confidentiality of individual responses; and
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston has worked cooperatively with the
U.S. Census Bureau during past decennial censuses; and
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston, School District 202, School
District 65, Evanston Township and other taxing districts have a vested interest in
a complete count of all residents of the City of Evanston during the decennial
census,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL is
OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the Interim City Manager is hereby authorized to
establish an Evanston 2010 Census Complete Count Committee. In order to
maximize the population count in the City of Evanston, said Committee shall
work with the Census Bureau to inform the public of the importance of being
counted in the decennial census and the confidentiality of individual responses.
SECTION 2: That this resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
