Home My WebLink AboutRESOLUTIONS-2001-091-R-01• 11 /5/01 91-R-01 A RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Execute An Agreement with Lincoln Schatz for Commission of a Sculpture for the Maple Street Parking Garage WHEREAS, the City has implemented a public art program pursuant to Ordinance 112-0-89 by providing a mechanism for funding the acquisition of works of art in public places; and WHEREAS, the east exterior wall of the Maple Street Parking Garage is an appropriate place for exhibition of a three-dimensional piece of public art; and is WHEREAS, Lincoln Schatz is a Chicago Artist who proposed a work of public art entitled "Nimbus" for the Maple Street Parking Garage; and WHEREAS, the work of art, "Nimbus", is a three-dimensional piece consisting of five panels of one -inch thick Plexiglas secured by a stainless steel armature; and WHEREAS, City Council's selection of the Artist's work was recommend by the Arts Council and the Public Art Committee; and WHEREAS, the Artist's fee for the work of art, "NIMBUS" is $170,000.00; and WHEREAS, an Agreement with the Artist for the aforedescribed work of art is in the best interests of the citizens of Evanston; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: 0 91-R-01 SECTION 1: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sign and 0 the City Clerk, hereby authorized and directed to attest, on behalf of the City of Evanston, an Agreement with Lincoln Schatz to design, fabricate and install the aforedescribed work, "Nimbus", at the Maple Street Parking Garage in substantial conformity with the attached in Exhibit A, made a part hereof. SECTION 2: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate any additional terms and conditions of the said Intergovernmental Grant Agreement. SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and approval in the manner required by law. Adopted:i�{1`-'��,�rt.� , 2001 Lorraine H.
