A RESOLUTION
Designating the Portion of Church Street
Between Ridge Avenue and Oak Avenue
With the Honorary Name, "Ann Jennett"
WHEREAS, Resolution 39-R-96 established an Honorary Street Name Sign
Program to honor certain individuals who have contributed greatly to the City of
Evanston through cultural, historic, or humanitarian acts; and
WHEREAS, Ann Jennett was a job specialist and career counselor at Evanston
Township High School for eight years; and
WHEREAS, Ann Jennett founded the Youth Job Center of Evanston, Inc. in
August 1983 to provide employment opportunities for disadvantaged young people, in
• response to a community need for help for an underserved and needy population; and
WHEREAS, Ann Jennett has served as the Executive Director of the Youth Job
Center from its inception to the present; and
WHEREAS, from her earliest days of helping young Evanstonians find jobs, Ann
Jennett was concerned about the number of business that did not hire minorities; and
WHEREAS, the Youth Job Center serves over one thousand one hundred youth
annually, 78% which are from low income families and 89% which are minorities; and
WHEREAS, Ann Jennett has opened many doors for minorities to higher, better -
paid and more visible jobs; and
WHEREAS, Ann Jennett oversees the daily operations of the Youth Job Center

and is responsible for raising its half million dollar annual budget,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That appreciation is hereby expressed to Ann Jennett for her
service to the City of Evanston by designating with the honorary name, "Ann Jennett,"
that portion of Church Street from Ridge Avenue to Oak Avenue.
SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
the date of its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
