HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-2000-039-R-0004/20/00 • 39-R-00 A RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Permit With the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago Allowing the City to Re -Route a Segment of a Water Main at 2222 Green Bay Road WHEREAS, the City and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago ("MWRD") are units of municipal government; and WHEREAS, 5 ILCS 220, The Intergovernmental Cooperation Act, provides that units of municipal government may enter into cooperative agreements with each other for the joint exercise of municipal authority; and • WHEREAS, the City, as a home rule unit, is empowered to enter into agreements pertaining to its government and affairs; and WHEREAS, the permit described herein is such an agreement; and WHEREAS, the City is desirous of re-routing a small segment of an existing 36-inch water main to the Village of Skokie on and around MWRD property at 2222 Green Bay Road; and WHEREAS, the water main re-routing requires the City to enter onto MWRD property and to do work thereon; and WHEREAS, the City and the MWRD will in the future submit to the City Council and MWRD Board, respectively, for approval, a subsurface easement allowing the re-routed 0 water main to remain in situ on MWRD property; and 39-R-00 04/20/00 • WHEREAS, re-routing the said water main and execution of the MWRD permit are in the best interests of the citizens of Evanston, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: herein. SECTION 1: That the foregoing recitals are found as fact and incorporated SECTION 2: That the City Council hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager to execute, and the City Clerk to attest, a one-year permit with the MWRD permitting the City to re-route a segment of the 36-inch water main to the Village of Skokie for an approximately six hundred (600) feet in length on and around MWRD property. is SECTION 3: The City Manager is authorized to negotiate any additional terms and conditions deemed to be in the public interest.
