HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-2000-022-R-000 • 0 22-R-00 A RESOLUTION Canvassing the results of the Primary Election Held on March 21, 2000, and Declaring the Results of the Advisory Referendum WHEREAS, on the twenty first day of March, 2000, a primary election was held in and for the City of Evanston„ cook County, Illinois, for the purpose of conducting an Advisory Referendum to determine "shall the City of Evanston enter into negotiations with Northwestern University for the purpose of obtaining annual financial payments from Northwestern for its fair share of the costs of the fire, police and other municipal services provided to the community by the City of Evanston?"; and WHEREAS, said primary election was regularly called in the manner provided by law; and WHEREAS, the official Canvassing Board consisting of the Mayor, the City Clerk and the City Attorney for the City of Evanston, find from the returns of said primary election that the following votes were cast for the advisory referendum indicated: (See attached Exhibit A) SECTION 1: That by reason of said vote, the City Council declares that the advisory referendum to determine "shall the City of Evanston enter into negotiations with Northwestern University for the purpose of obtaining annual financial payments from Northwestern for its fair share of the costs of the fire, police and other municipal services provided to the community by the City of Evanston?" passed. SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby made a permanent part of the records of the City Council of the City of Evanston, cook County, Illinois. The Canvassing Board submits the foregoing report as a complete return and canvass of the results of the votes cast in the Primary Election on March 21 ,2000, on the advisory referendum. 7 1 ayor Lorraine H.
