A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Manager to Sign a Joint Agreement
Between the City of Evanston and the Illinois Department of Transportation
For the Reconstruction of the Chicago Avenue Bridge over the Skokie Swift
and
To Sign a Construction Agreement with Teng & Associates for the Same Project
WHEREAS the bridge on Chicago Avenue over the Skokie Swift line of the CTA is
in need of replacement due to its age and condition; and
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston wishes to reconstruct the subject bridge with. a
combination of federal and Motor Fuel Tax funds; and
WHEREAS; the federally funded projects of this type are coordinated by and
• constructed under the supervision of the State of Illinois Department of Transportation
(IDOT); and
WHEREAS, IDOT requires that certain documents be executed prior to the approval
of the funding of these projects; and
WHEREAS, these documents include the Local Agency Agreement for Federal
Participation (commonly called the Joint Agreement) and the Construction Engineering
Services Agreement for Federal Participation (commonly called the Engineering
Agreement); and
WHEREAS, these documents have been prepared according to federal, state, and
local specifications and in accordance with applicable regulations and are attached as
0 exhibits to this resolution; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Evanston to complete these •
requirements and be eligible to receive the aforementioned funding,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:.
SECTION 1: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sign, and
the City Clerk hereby authorized and directed to attest on behalf of the City of Evanston
a Joint Agreement with IDOT and an Engineering Agreement with Teng and Associates
for the reconstruction of the Chicago Avenue bridge over the Skokie Swift line of the CTA.
SECTION 20 That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate
any additional terms of the Agreements as may be determined to be in the best interest of
the City.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
