HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1999-062-R-99U 9/9/99 62-R-99 A RESOLUTION Authorizing Amendment No. 2 to the Lease Between the City of Evanston and The Honorable Jan Schakowsky for Certain Second Floor Space in the Civic Center WHEREAS, Resolution 73-R-98 authorized the lease ("master lease") of Room 2202 on the second floor of the Evanston Civic Center to The Honorable Jan Schakowsky for office use; and WHEREAS, said Room 2202, which includes Room 2203 and 2204, consists of 790 square feet; and • WHEREAS, Resolution 18-R-99 authorized amendment no. 1 to the master lease to increase the rented space to include Room 2700, consisting of 522 square feet, on a month -to - month basis, with the master lease otherwise unchanged; and WHEREAS, The Honorable Jan Schakowsky no longer uses Room 2700; and WHEREAS, The Honorable Jan Schakowsky is desirous of further reducing her leased space by 250 square feet; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolutions 52-R-98 and 15-R-99, National Lekotek Center ("Lekotek") leases the space adjacent to Room 2202; and WHEREAS, Lekotek is desirous of increasing its leased space by the 250 square feet to be vacated by the Honorable Jan Schakowsky; and 0 WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that said 250 square feet is not required for the use of the City of Evanston; and • WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the aforedescribed respective vacation and acquisition of space on the second floor of the Civic C enter are in the best interests of the City of Evanston; and WHEREAS, amendments to the respective leases are required to reflect the change in total square footage, and, in the case of the Honorable Jan Schakowsky, proportionate rental decrease, and, in the case of Lekotek; proportionate rental increase; and WHEREAS, the terms and conditions of the respective leases remain unchanged except for such square footage and rental amount adjustments; and WHEREAS, Resolution 63-R-99 authorizes the aforedescribed amendments to the Lekotek lease approved by Resolutions 52-R-98 and 15-R-99; and • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the foregoing recitals are found as fact and made a part hereof. SECTION 2: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sign and the City Clerk authorized to attest on behalf of the City of Evanston amendment no. 2 to the lease between the City, as Lessor and The Honorable Jan Schakowsky for the term of January 1, 1999 through December 31, 2000. Said amendment no. 2 shall reflect the square footage leased as 540 square feet and the adjusted monthly rental as $850.05/month for the period of October 1, 1999 through December 31, 1999 and $892.35/month for the period of January 1, 2000 through December 31, 2000. The terms and conditions of said lease shall be otherwise unchanged from 0 • the master lease. SECTION 3: That the City Manager is hereby ailrthorized and directed to negotiate any additional terms and conditions on the lease of aforesaid room space as may be determined to be in the best interests of the City. SECTION 4: This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law. <, Mayor ATTEST: Ot rk • Adopted: jl� 1999 • 3 Amendment No. 2 to Lease Between do City of Evanston and The Honorable Jan Schakowsky For the Term January 1, 1999 to December 31, 2001 WHEREAS, tite City of Evanston as Lessor ("Lessor") and The Honorable Jan Schakowsky as Lessee ("Lessee") have executed a lease ("master lease") for the period of January 1, 1999 to December 31, 2000 by the terms of which Lessor leased to Lessee a certain 790 square feet of space on Lessor's second floor at 2100 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois for use in Lessee's business activities; and WHEREAS, the lease of certain additional office space, Room 2700, on a month -to - month basis, on Lessor's second floor to Lessee was approved by Resolution 18-R-99 as amendment no. 1 to the master lease; and WHEREAS, The Honorable Jan Schakowsky no longer uses Room 2202; and is WHEREAS, Lessor and Lessee desire to amend the aforesaid master Lease to provide for a reduction of rental space to Lessee. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston by Resolution 62-R-99 authorized the City Manager to execute this Amendment no. 2 to the aforesaid master lease; and NOW THEREFORE, Lessor and Lessee agree as follows: The above recitations are incorporated herein as facts. 2. The master lease is hereby amended to provide for the square footage of the total space leased by Lessor to Lessee to decrease by 250 feet, to a total of 540 square feet. 3. This Amendment, and the rights and obligations created by it, shall be effective on October 1, 1999 and shall expire on December 31, 2000. • 4 A • • • 4. Lessee's monthly rent shall decrease to reflect said decrease in leased space. Specifically, for the period of October 1, 1999 through December 31, 1999, said rent shall be $850.05/month. For the period of January 1, 2000 through December 31, 2000, said rent shall be $892.35/month. 5. All other terms and conditions of the Lease remain in full force and effect and applicable to the additional space leased.
