A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Manager to Execute An
Amendment to the Lease for Temporary
Evanston Fire Department Headquarters
at 1335 Dodge Avenue
WHEREAS, Resolution 52-R-94 authorized the City Manager to execute a lease
with Robert M. Savlin to allow the Headquarters Offices of the Evanston Fire Department
to occupy the property at 1335 Dodge Avenue during a comprehensive renovation,
rehabilitation, and construction of certain Fire Department buildings; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department is desirous of renting an extra room at 1335
• Dodge Avenue to house certain of its files; and
WHEREAS, such extra space is to house needed files within easy access by

personnel of the Department's Headquarters; and
WHEREAS, Robert M. Savlin is desirous of renting such space to the City; and
WHEREAS, such rental, by facilitating the work of Headquarters personnel, is
in the best interests of the City; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sign

and the City Clerk hereby authorized and directed to attest on behalf of the City, an
amendment to the lease of August 8, 1994 by and between the City of Evanston (Lessee)

and Robert M. Savlin (Lessor), said amendment to provide for a storage room on the first
floor at 1335 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois. The aforesaid rental shall be at a monthly
cost of two hundred twenty dollars and no/100 ($220.00). A copy of said lease amendment
marked as Exhibit A is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
negotiate any additional conditions or terms on the aforesaid lease amendment.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after the date of its passage and approval in the manner required by law.

Amendment to August 8, 1994 Lease
Between City of Evanston and Robert M. Savlin
For 1335 Dodge Avenue
Evanston, Illinois
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston, an Illinois municipal corporation, "Lessee", and
Robert M. Savlin, "Lessor", collectively, "the Parties", executed a lease ("Master Lease") on
August 8, 1994 whereby Lessor would lease a certain portion of the premises at 1335
Dodge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois ("Leased Premises") to Lessee for use as Fire Department
office space; and
WHEREAS, the Parties desire to amend the Master Lease to provide for Lessor to rent
certain storage space at 1335 Dodge Avenue to Lessee; and
WHEREAS, paragraph 10 of the Rules and Regulations of the Master Lease provides
for modifications of the Lease, and
NOW THEREFORE, the Parties agree as follows:
1. The above recitals are incorporated herein.
• 2. The term of this Lease is to begin on , 1995 and to end on
September 14, 1995, unless extended as provided in the Master Lease.
3. The rent for the Storage Room is two hundred twenty dollars ($220.00)
month, to be prorated on a day by -day basis, for any actual occupancy of less
than a month.
4. The premises which are the subject of this Amendment are described as:
A room, 10.16' x 11.38', on the first floor of the building at 1335 Dodge
Avenue, hereinafter, "Storage Room".
5. No renovations or change in utilities services are required.
6. Lessee will use the Storage Room for storage of Fire Department files.
7. Lessee will have sole access to the Storage Room. Lessee may at its own
costs, use its own locks and keys on the Storage Room door, it being
understood that the files stored therein are confidential and essential to Fire
Department operations. At the end of the Lease, by lapse of time or otherwise,
• Lessee will give Lessor all keys and/or combinations to said lock(s).

8. The terms of the Master Lease are applicable hereto and unchanged, except
as provided herein.
