A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an
Amendment to the Local Agency Agreement for Federal Participation
with the Illinois Department of Transportation for the
Ridge Avenue Traffic Signal Improvement Project
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston and the Illinois Department of Transportation
([DOT), in the interest of the safe and efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian
traffic, are working jointly to upgrade and coordinate the traffic signals within the Ridge
Avenue corridor between Church Street and Howard Street in the City of Evanston, said
improvement to be identified as STATE Job: C-91-167-99, and Project Number: CMM-
7003(712), and hereinafter referred to as the PROJECT; and
• WHEREAS, the parties hereto are desirous of the PROJECT because it will be of
immediate benefit to the residents of the area and permanent in nature; and
WHEREAS, IDOT and the CITY wish to avail themselves of Federal funds
committed to improve the PROJECT; and
WHEREAS, the CITY was awarded an additional four hundred seventy-four
thousand, eight hundred fifty-five dollars ($474,855.00) of federal congestion mitigation
air quality funding from the Chicago Area Transportation Study for the PROJECT; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it is in
the best interests of the City of Evanston to make use of these federal funds for
the PROJECT,
• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

SECTION 1: That the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign, and the City •
Clerk hereby authorized to attest to, the Local Agency Amendment with the Illinois
Department of Transportation that increases the federal participation on this
construction project by
four hundred seventy-four
thousand,
eight hundred fifty-five
dollars ($474,855.00),
marked as Exhibit
A and
attached hereto and
incorporated herein.
SECTION 2: That
the City
Manager is hereby authorized and
directed
to
negotiate any additional
conditions
of the Amended Joint Agreement
as may
be
determined to be in the best interests of the City.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.

This Amendment is made and entered into between the above local -agency hereinafter referred to as the "LA" and the state of Illinois,
acting by and through its Department of Transportation, hereinafter referred to as "STATE". The STATE and LA jointly propose to improve
the designated location as described below. The improvement shall be constructed in accordance with plans approved by the STATE and
the-STATE's policies and procedures approved and/or required by the Federal Highway Administration hereinafter referred to as. "FHWA".
BE IT MUTUALLY AGREED that all remaining provisions of the original agreement not altered by this Amendment shall remain in full force
and effect and the Amendment shall be binding upon.and inure to the benefit of the parties hereto, their successors and assigns.
