HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-2004-024-R-04• 04/29/2004 24-R-04 A RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Agreement with Adelheid Mers and Patrick McGee for Public Art at Fire Station No. 3 WHEREAS, the City has implemented a public art program pursuant to Ordinance 112-0-89 by providing a mechanism for funding the acquisition of works of art in public places; and WHEREAS, the east exterior wall of Fire Station No. 3 at 1105 Central Street is an appropriate public place for exhibition of a mural depicting scenes associated with is firefighting and paramedic activities; and WHEREAS, Adelheid Mers and Patrick McGee are Chicago Artists who proposed a work of public art for Fire Station No. 3; and WHEREAS, the mural will consist of silver-gray anodized plates depicting firefighters and paramedics at work; and WHEREAS, City Council's selection of the Artists' work was recommend by the Arts Council and the Public Art Committee; and WHEREAS, the Artists' fee for the mural is $20,000.00; and WHEREAS, an Agreement with the Artists for the aforedescribed work of art is in the best interests of the citizens of Evanston; and • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: 24-R-04 SECTION 1: That the City Council finds the foregoing recitals as fact and makes • them a part hereof. SECTION 2: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sign and the City Clerk hereby authorized and directed to attest, on behalf of the City of Evanston, an Agreement with Adelheid Mers and Patrick McGee to design, fabricate, and install the aforedescribed mural at Fire Station No. 3 in substantial conformity with the attached Agreement in Exhibit A, made a part hereof, at a total cost of $20,000.00. SECTION 3: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate any additional terms and conditions of the Agreement. SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its pass age and approval in the manner required by law. Adopted:I � , 2004 (✓/ Lorraine H.
