A Resolution
Assuming Responsibility for Temporary
Closing of Sheridan Road (Parade)
WHEREAS, Northwestern University, located in the City of Evanston,
desires to hold its Annual Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 24, 2003 on
Sheridan Road, at 6:00 pm; and
WHEREAS, said parade will require the closing of Sheridan Road either
partially or completely between Central Street and Clark Street; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois requires the City to assume full
responsibility and liability involved in the closing of said highway;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, that said City will
assume full responsibility for the direction, protection and regulation of traffic
during the time the detour is in effect, and all liability for damages of any kind
occasioned by the closing of the State Route as to claims made upon the State
of Illinois.
BE IT FURTHER' RESOLVED that efficient, all weather detours will be
maintained, conspicuously marked and judiciously police patrolled for the
benefits of traffic deviated from the State Route.
