HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-2003-045-R-0345-R-03 r : A RESOLUTION Designating the Portion of Wesley Avenue Between Grove Street and Elinor Place With the Honorary Name, "Bill Hannan Drive" WHEREAS, Resolution 39-R-96 established an Honorary Street Name Sign Program to honor certain individuals who have contributed greatly to the City of Evanston through cultural, historic, or humanitarian acts; and WHEREAS, William "Bill" Hannan, was the Principal of Dewey School for 19 years; and WHEREAS, Bill Hannan was involved in the desegregation of District 65 in 1967; and 0 WHEREAS, Dewey School was one of the only schools that was most integrated • along with the neighborhood around it; and and WHEREAS, Bill Hannan was an integral part in keeping the Dewey School open; WHEREAS, Bill Hannan recognized the strength of Dewey School in the cultural backgrounds of the parents; and WHEREAS, Bill Hannan was active in the Dewey Community Conference, and National Care, one of the first federally qualified HMO's, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: 45-R-03 SECTION 1: That appreciation is hereby expressed to William Hannan for his service to the City of Evanston by designating with the honorary name, "Bill Hannan *Aft Drive" that portion of Wesley Avenue from to Grove Street to Elinor Place.
