A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Manager to Execute
An Agreement with Fred Nagelbach
For Commission of a Sculpture, "Mtuk",
For the Levy Senior Center
WHEREAS, the City has implemented a public art program pursuant to Ordinance
112-0-89 by providing a mechanism for funding the acquisition of works of art in public
places; and
WHEREAS, the southwest grounds of the Levy Senior Center is an appropriate
place for exhibition of a concrete cast -in -place piece of public art; and
• WHEREAS, Fred Nagelbach is an Evanston Artist who proposed a work of public art
titled "Mtuk" for the Levy Senior Center; and
WHEREAS, the work of art, " Mtuk", is a three-dimensional piece, a thirteen feet (13')
tall by five feet (5) wide cast -in -place concrete work; and
WHEREAS, City Council's selection of the Artist's work was recommend by the Arts
Council and the Public Art Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Artist's fee for the work of art, "Mtuk" is $20,700.Q0; and
WHEREAS, an Agreement with the Artist for the aforedescribed work of art is in the
best interests of the citizens of Evanston,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF

EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

SECTION 1: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sign and •
the City Clerk, hereby authorized and directed to attest, on behalf of the City of Evanston,
an Agreement with Fred Nagelbach to design, fabricate and install the aforedescribed
work, "Mtuk", at the Levy Senior Center in substantial conformity with the attached in
Exhibit A, made a part hereof.
SECTION 2: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate
any additional terms and conditions of the said Intergovernmental Grant Agreement.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the
date of its passage and approval in the manner required by law.
