Home My WebLink AboutRESOLUTIONS-2003-029-R-03• 5/14/2003 29-R-03 A RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Enter Into an Agreement With Omni Orrington Hotel for Sponsorship of the City's 2003 Ethnic Arts Festival, Lakeshore Arts Festival, Starlight Concert Series, and Arts Week Evanston WHEREAS, the City has for many years organized and held such summer cultural events as the Ethnic Arts Festival, Lakeshore Arts Festival, and Arts Week Evanston; and WHEREAS, these events provide a venue for artisans and performers to showcase their talents. • WHEREAS, these events draw attendees from the Chicagoland area and provide economic and social benefits to the City and its citizens; and WHEREAS, the Omni Orrington has offered to provide sponsorship of these events in the form of reduced hotel room rates for artisans and performers and an appreciation luncheon for volunteers all of which will help attract talented persons to participate in these cultural events and will acknowledge the volunteers who donate their time and efforts; and WHEREAS, acceptance of the Omni Orrington Hotel's generous sponsorship valued at approximately $23,730 is in the best interests of the citizens of Evanston, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0 OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: 29-R-03 SECTION 1: That the City Council hereby gratefully accepts the Omni Orrington • Hotel's hospitality sponsorship in the approximate value of $23,730 and acknowledges this contribution to the City's 2003 Ethnic Arts Festival, Lakeshore Arts Festival, Starlight Concert series, and Arts Week Evanston. SECTION 2: That the City Council hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager to sign, and the City Clerk to attest, an agreement between the City and the Fund in substantial conformity with that attached hereto as Exhibit A and made a part hereof, providing for the Omni Orrington Hotel's hospitality sponsorship of the above - listed events for the year 2003 only. SECTION 3: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate any additional terms and conditions of the Agreement as may be determined to be in the best interests of the City. • SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
