A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Manager to Enter
Into a Lease for the Use of Northwestern University
Property for a Temporary Fire Station
WHEREAS, a new fire station, which will house Fire Engine # 23, is being built and
will be completed in approximately one (1) year; and
WHEREAS, a temporary location for Fire Engine # 23 and its crew is needed during
this interim period; and
WHEREAS, Northwestern University has a large heated landscaping garage that
is capable of housing Fire Engine # 23 and is located just east of Ryan Field; and
• WHEREAS, Northwestern University has agreed to allow the Fire Department to
utilize the garage as a temporary Fire Station during the construction period; and
WHEREAS, Northwestern University will also permit the City to place a trailer on the
property to provide temporary housing for the firefighters associated with Fire Engine # 23;
and
WHEREAS, the Foreign Fire Tax Board has agreed to fund the cost of this Lease
Agreement with Northwestern University,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
sign, and the City Clerk hereby authorized and directed to attest on behalf of the City of
• Evanston, a lease between the City and Northwestern University for the temporary housing

of a fire engine and placement of a trailer for temporary housing for firefighters, adjacent
to Ryan Field. Such lease shall be in substantial conformity with the Lease marked as
Exhibit 1 attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
negotiate any additional terms and conditions of the lease as may be determined to be in
the best interests of the City.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval in the manner pr ided by law.
