A RESOLUTION
Designating the Portion of Mulford Street
Between Wesley Avenue and Ashland Avenue
With the Honorary Name, "Ed Gold"
WHEREAS, Resolution 39-R-96 established an Honorary Street Name Sign
Program to honor certain individuals who have contributed greatly to the City of
Evanston through cultural, historic, or humanitarian acts; and
WHEREAS, Ed Gold, born on January 8, 1916, has lived in the model home for
the tract of homes built on Mulford in the City of Evanston for over 50 years; and
WHEREAS, Ed Gold, for more than 60 years following his graduation from
Temple University as a journalism major, has devoted his life to communication, writing,
editing, and photography; and
WHEREAS, Ed Gold has chronicled activity in the Mulford neighborhood area
through photographs since the 1950's; and
WHEREAS, Ed Gold's love for Leah Lomar Park immediately to the east of his
home is well known; and
WHEREAS, Ed Gold has been the neighborhood caretaker of Leah Lomar Park
for many years, every morning walking through the Park collecting litter, bottles and
trash left behind by evening users; and
WHEREAS, Ed Gold has chronicled wildlife in and around Leah Lomar Park
through his photography; and

WHEREAS, Ed Gold has been a volunteer teacher's helper at Dawes School •
since 1997; and
WHEREAS, Ed Gold will be remembered by many as a fixture on the park bench
in Leah Lomar Park next to his home,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That appreciation is hereby expressed to Ed Gold for his service to
the City of Evanston by designating with the honorary name, "Ed Gold," that portion of
Mulford Street from Wesley Avenue to Ashland Avenue.
SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
the date of its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
