HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-2002-046-R-0206/03/2002 0 46-R-02 A RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Enter Into an Agreement With the Chicago Tribune For Promotional Sponsorship of the City's 2002 Ethnic Arts Festival, LakeShore Festival, Starlight Concerts and Arts Week Evanston WHEREAS, the City has for many years organized and held such summer cultural events as the Ethnic Arts Festival, LakeShore Festival, Starlight Concerts, and Arts Week Evanston; and WHEREAS, these events provide a venue for artisans and performers to showcase their talents; and • WHEREAS, these events draw attendees from the Chicagoland area and provide economic and social benefits to the City and its citizens; and WHEREAS, print media advertising of the Festivals and Concerts will publicize the events and thereby increase their attendance; and WHEREAS, the Chicago Tribune has agreed to provide the exclusive English - language print media sponsorship of these events; and WHEREAS, acceptance of the Chicago Tribune's generous sponsorship valued at approximately $31,948 is in the best interests of the citizens of Evanston, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the City Council hereby gratefully accepts the Chicago • Tribune's print media promotional sponsorship in the approximate amount of $31,948 46-R-02 and acknowledges the contribution to the City's 2002 Ethnic Arts Festival, LakeShore Festival, Starlight Concerts, and Arts Week Evanston made by the Chicago Tribune. is SECTION 2: That the City Council hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager to sign, and the City Clerk to attest, an agreement between the City and the Fund in substantial conformity with that attached hereto as Exhibit A and made a part hereof, providing for Chicago Tribune print media promotional sponsorship of the above -listed events for the year 2002 only. SECTION 3: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate any additional terms and conditions of the Agreement as may be determined to be in the best interests of the City.
