A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Manager to
Sign the Certification Statement for the
Illinois Bicycle Path Grant Program
WHEREAS, the Illinois Bicycle Path Grant Program is a state -financed program
operated by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources; and
WHEREAS, an Illinois Bicycle Path Grant can be -requested for acquisition,
construction, and rehabilitation of public, non -motorized bicycle paths and directly
related support facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Bicycle Path Grant Program operates on a
0 reimbursement basis providing up to 50% assistance for approved project costs, with a
maximum award of $200,000; and
WHEREAS, an applicant, as part of its proposal, must submit a Certification
Statement by March 1, 2002, certifying and acknowledging that it has 100% of the funds
necessary to complete the pending project within the timeframe required; and
WHEREAS, the City's Parks/Forestry & Recreation Department is preparing a
grant proposal for Harbert Park for fiscal year 2002 for $120,000 to renovate the bicycle
path in Harbert Park,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

SECTION 1: That the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign and the City •
Clerk hereby authorized to attest to the Certification Statement for the Illinois Bicycle
Path Grant Program.
SECTION 2: That
the City
Manager is hereby
authorized and
directed
to
negotiate any additional
conditions
of the Resolution
of Authorization
as may
be
determined to be in the best interests of the City.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
