A Resolution
Priorities for State Funding Assistance
WHEREAS, the Rules Committee of the City Council did meet on October 6, 1997 and
on January 5, 1998 to consider State of Illinois Legislative Funding Objectives for the City of
Evanston; and
WHEREAS, the Rules Committee did determine that certain projects within the City of
Evanston are appropriate for State funding assistance; and
WHEREAS, these projects address specific needs of the City and are in the best interests
of the citizens of Evanston; and
WHEREAS, the successful completion of any one of these projects will enhance the
quality of life of both Evanston citizens and visitors to the City, will increase opportunities for
0 recreation and citizen participation, and will aid in the revitalization of neighborhoods and
business districts; and
WHEREAS, the funding of any one of these projects is beyond the economic ability of
the City; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois, commencing in January, will consider a supplemental
budget; and
WHEREAS, the Legislators representing the City and its residents, in the Illinois Senate
and House desire to assist the City in obtaining funding for projects in the best interests of the
City; and

WHEREAS, the Rules Committee of the City Council does recommend that any one of
the below described projects is appropriate for state supplemental budget funding; and
WHEREAS, the Rules Committee has identified the 1) Noyes Cultural Art Center
Repairs, 2) Performing Arts Center Development, 3) Construction of a Recreation Center in
South Evanston, and 4) Economic Development Project for the Church -Dodge Area as
appropriate for State funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the following four projects in no certain order are determined by the
City Council to be in the best interests of the citizens of the City and appropriate for funding
from the State of Illinois:
1) Noyes Cultural Art Center Repairs,
2) Performing Arts Center Development,
3) Construction of a Recreation Center in South Evanston, and
4) Economic Development Project for the Church -Dodge Area.
SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the date
of its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
