HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1997-073-R-9798/97 • 73-R-97 A Resolution Designating a Portion of Asbury Avenue with the Honorary Name, "Jack Korshak Avenue" WHEREAS, Jack Korshak served as Alderman of the Fourth Ward of the City of Evanston during the years 1979 through 1991; and WHEREAS, during his tenure as Alderman he served as Chairman and/or member of the Administration and Public Works Committee, the Human Services Committee, the Planning and Development Committee, the Rules Committee, the Economic Development Committee, the Budget Policy Committee, the Police Services Committee, the City/Chamber Committee, the City/School Liaison Committee, the Parking Committee, the Housing Commission, the Mental Health Board, • the Unified Budgeting Panel, the Sister City Committee, and the Mayor's Special Committee on the Research Park; and WHEREAS, Jack Korshak has served the citizens of his ward, as well as the citizens of the entire City with distinction, giving most liberally of his time, energy, and ability; WHEREAS, THE City of Evanston wishes to proclaim and acknowledge the contributions of Jack Korshak to the City; and WHEREAS, Asbury Avenue is a major thoroughfare in the City of Evanston; and WHEREAS, that portion of Asbury Avenue between Greenleaf Streets and Crain Street is located in the Fourth Ward; and WHEREAS, Jack Korshak's public service has enriched the quality of life of the citizens of 0 the City of Evanston, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois on behalf of itself, the Mayor, City Manager, City Officials and the residents • of this community, does hereby express its appreciation to Jack Korshak for his service to the City of Evanston by designating with the honorary name, "Jack Korshak Avenue" that portion of Asbury Avenue between Greenleaf Street and Crain Street. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager shall cause signs to be installed on Asbury Avenue to indicate this honor. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be made a part of the permanent records of the City of Evanston and that a copy, executed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk, be sent to Jack Korshak.
