Scope of Work
Keep Evanston Beautiful has in the past directed our education efforts primarily towards the
elementary schools in Evanston. The goal for this grant would be to expand our efforts to the
high school.
Evanston Township High School (E.T.H.S.) houses 2,500 students and several hundred teachers
and support staff in a 3 story building in central Evanston. There is currently very little recycling,
except for office paper on a voluntary basis.
K.E.B in conjunction with E.T.H.S.'s Operations and Purchasing Departments, headed by George
Dellorto, proposes to set up a whole -school recycling program, expanding the collection of office
paper, and adding the bottles and cans from food service areas. The organization will provide
collection containers for paper and bottles and cans, plus an education program targeting
students, teachers, administrators and custodial staff.
Collection of the new materials to be recycled (bottles, cans and all office paper) and material
already being recycled (some newspaper, magazines and office paper), is currently, and will
continue to be, provided by the City of Evanston.
is
P g
A second project which is aimed at educating the residents of Evanston is the 5' printing of
K.E.B.'s Directory of Recycling Alternatives. We have solicited support for the printing of
enough copies to distribute them to every household in Evanston. We are seeking grant funds to
aid in the distribution to 14,550 single family homes and another 5,000 condominium and co-op
apartment units.
