HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1997-042-R-976/30/97 42-R-97 A RESOLUTION • Omnibus Amendments Pertaining to the City Council - Parking Committee and City Chamber Liaison Committee WHEREAS, the Evanston City Council pursuant to Resolution 32-R-97 did adopt Rules and Organization of the City Council of the City of Evanston; and WHEREAS, certain additional substantive and procedural changes involving the City Council are necessary and consistent with Resolution 32-R-97. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That there is hereby created the Parking Committee. The Committee shall consist of seven (7) members appointed by the Mayor; three (3) members shall be • members of the City Council, one (1) member shall be the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and three (3) members shall be Evanston business owners or Evanston residents. That the Committee shall study the intermediate and long term parking needs of the City and shall provide to the City Council recommendations to solve parking problems. SECTION 2: That the membership of the City -Chamber Liaison Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and shall consist of the following: 1. Six representatives of business; and 2. One Aldermen. 3. The Mayor, City Manager, and the President and the Executive Vice • President of the Chamber of Commerce shall participate as ex-officio members of the Committee. 1 42-R-97 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the basic purpose of the City -Chamber Liaison Committee is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns between representatives of the City and the business community concerning the following issues: • 1. Parking 2. Codes and their impact on potential development. 3. Maintenance of both public and private property in business districts. 4. Plans for economic growth. 5. Costs of City services which offset the cost of doing business in Evanston. 6. Other issues as determined by the Committee. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City -Chamber Liaison Committee shall have no formal authority to establish any binding policies or procedures for the implementation of any action which have been deemed by the committee to be in the best interest of the business community and the community at large. • P g BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a representative of the City serving on the Committee shall present consensus positions of the City -Chamber Liaison Committee to the appropriate City policy -making bodies and/or City administration.
