HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1993-067-R-9367-R-93 RESOLUTION Amending City Council Rule 6.2 Pertaining to Citizen Participation WHEREAS current Council Rule 6.2 provides that a period of time not to exceed fifteen minutes shall be provided at the commencement of each regular Council meeting for citizen comment; and WHEREAS the City Council believes priority should be given to those persons wishing to address an item appearing on the meeting's agenda for decision; and WHEREAS the City Council believes modifying Rule 6.2 will clarify Council procedures and make more efficient use of the time allocated for citizen comment during Council meetings. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: Section 1: City Council Rule 6.2 be amended to read as Is follows: "As part of its agenda, the Council shall provide a period not to exceed fifteen (15) minutes at the commencement of each regular council meeting for citizen comment. Interested persons shall sign their names and addresses on a posted list, and indicate the aqenda item or other subject they wish to address. The Mayor will qive priority to those persons wishinq to address an item appearinq on the meeting's agenda for decision and will allocate time equally amonq those persons siqned up to speak."
