HomeMy WebLinkAbout134-R-19 Authorizing the City Manager to Enter into a Six Month Lease Agreement with GTC Main Street, Inc. for Space in City of Evanston Parking Lot 1511 /26/2019 134-R-19 A RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Enter into a Six Month Lease Agreement with GTC Main Street, Inc. for Space in City of Evanston Parking Lot 15 WHEREAS, GTC Main Street, Inc. ("GTC') owns certain real property located at 716 Main Street, Evanston, Illinois 60201, which is leased to the City of Evanston ("City") and improved with a public parking lot referred to as Lot 15 (the "Property"), legally described in Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, The City entered into a lease in 2010 that designates the City shall pay portions of the Real Estate Tax Bill for the parcels: 41 % of Property Index Number 11-19-303-606-0000, 39% of Property Index Number 11-19-303-707-0000, and 100% of Property Tax Number 11-19-303-034-0000 as its rent for the aforesaid premises; and WHEREAS, The City maintains the facilities at its own expense to provide parking of automobiles, including but not limited to pavement markings, lighting system, and snow removal; and WHEREAS, Staff has determined that the lease is no longer financially responsible for the City, and seeks to enter into a six month lease to provide time for the owner to find alternative operations; and WHEREAS, The City will no longer be liable for payment of the Real Estate Tax Bills, but will pay GTC fifteen (15%) percent of the parking revenue received 134-R-19 from Lot 15 (hourly rates and monthly permits), and continue maintenance/snow plow operations; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COUNTY OF COOK, STATE OF ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Evanston, a lease agreement of six (6) months, between the City of Evanston and GTC. The Lease Agreement shall be in substantial conformity with the Lease Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit "B" and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate any additional terms and conditions of the leases as may be determined to be in the best interests of the City. SECTION 3: Resolution 134-R-19 shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
